Humble Autumnal Beginnings

whoa... it's not 90+ degrees out?
shirt: Zara | skirt: Target | blazer: mom's closet | loafers: Salvation Army | beanie: Target
details, details...
3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Mini Satchel | Revlon's Wine Not | Medusa's Electro Red eye shadow
one of my favorite thrift finds!

Whoa, you feeling that autumn chill like we are here? By chill, I mean's like 89 degrees compared to 100. But, that still counts as being in the 80s, so here come the beanies and blazers!
This is my mom's old blazer I dug up, and I really dig colors and the structured, boarding school vibe in general. I thought it paired well with this weird eye tank, and throwing on a simple black and white bodycon skirt would add to the pattern play [nothing I love more than pattern pairing!] but staying monochromatic to not totally overload the senses.
I wore my red loafers that I think complimented the thin red stripes in the blazer and the overall schoolgirl feel. I was happy with the end result but I've been in the mood for more modern, streamlined style lately though, so I wished I had some simple black boots. I mean, I *do* have a pair of black boots... and it kills me to spend money on duplicates in my wardrobe... buuut I think an ankle boot that hit lower would be more casual and versatile and fit the sleek style I'm vibing for!
I put a list together for a possible investment in the future.

new, new, new c:

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Mini Satchel

My new glasses! frames by Alice & Frank

It'sa me! with new specs!
Hello, hello!
September's been quite a busy month for Emma and me (which would explain the infrequency of posts.) With school and standardized test prepping, I'm still trying to balance time to fit in blogging, etc!
But through all the academic induced stress, I've had the chance to get a few shiny new things this week (which do help put me in a better mood ^_^)
I got new glasses, and I was slightly concerned if I would find any frames that I liked and fit me well (need my money's worth!) But I found a couple of really neat frames by Alice & Frank, and I'm really happy with the one I picked! (Also, anyone notice the slight HP relation? Alice and Frank Longbottom? No, just me? All right...)
And I'm so excited about the Phillip Lim for Target collection! I've been on the search for a new purse and I fell in love with this satchel, especially the shape of it which can change to a more classic boxy shape or the funky angular look. The quality is pretty ace especially for the pricetag ($34.99) and I'm just super happy how versatile it is!
Yay new things c: hope you have a good day today! treat yoself!

Dun dundun duuun! *excessive fanfare*

Hello all! After years of being ever passive content consumers on the youtubes, we have moved on in the ranks to content creators! Here's a little introduction and OOTD for the general public - pretty much a small taste of what's to come!
I, for one, am super excited about making videos, and we really hope you enjoy the outcome!

EYE love it, DOT you?

Hello lovelies!

School has made life a bit crazy for the both of us lately. I have contracted an acute case of senioritis as well as physics-failing-itus. It's a pretty nasty combination that may land me in the hospital for all we know. (Let's hope it does. Anywhere but school, right?)

Even as things progress in normal people world, I've been experimenting every day to keep life from being too dull, whether it is with fashion, organization, or...my face!

I'd been craving eyeliner like a child craves...Disney World? Maybe? ...and I finally picked some up the other day while I was skipping school. (okay, no, I wasn't technically skipping... I checked out because I had cramps, drugged up, felt better, and went hunting after dropping off the dry cleaning. I thought I might as well get things done! I haven't yet perfected the art of letting my engine idle.)

I found and purchased a nice, cheap liquid bottle in Brookshire's and triumphantly sauntered into the daylight with a manic grin plastered on my face. My friend Alden was with me and she seemed more than a bit nonplussed! hehehe.

The next day I wore exaggerated cat eyes. After a few days with this new skill added to my repertoire, I decided I'd try my hand at something our friend Kelly introduced me to:

Under-Eye Dots. (For lack of a better name.)

Here are the results:

Two shots of the whole look. First lipstick.

(Headband: Claire's)

Tried out a different lipstick because I thought it suited the other colors more. (Earrings: local thrift)

The makeup involved in creating this look!

Milani INFINITE Liquid Eyeliner
Almay "For Hazel Eyes" Eyeshadow Trio
( I used only the lid color and highlighter)
Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake
Revlon cream lipstick in Berry Haute

No mascara, foundation, blush, etc. was used. I wanted to focus in on the eyes and lips and allow the eyeliner to define all aspects of the eyes, since that is what this is all about.

I truly love experimenting with makeup. This look is a nifty way to cause double takes. I think that black draws the eye incredibly well, of course, but that this look could also be worn with other colors to make your eyes pop! (Now I'm going to have to do that, too!) The black, though, definitely draws the eye, whereas a pop of color would accentuate the eye. Since the black is commanding of attention, black eyeliner allows us to visually change the shape of our eyes. This little dot trick follows the same principles, causing glances to be cast at the bottom lid and creating an overall rounder eye shape.

It is quirky, it is refreshing, and it involves color theory and optical illusion. Of course I wanted to do this! What's not to like?

Keep experimenting, little saplings!
Til next time,
~Emmaline

p.s. I wasn't wearing any other makeup in this post, so please excuse the incredibly flushed cheeks. that was not necessarily an intentional part of the look- it is just part of who I am!
